Food Preperation Safety

If you are the type of person who likes to have company over and share in a meal, you should know that there are a lot of things that can go wrong. As any of the catering services in Toronto can tell you, food poisoning is much more common within private homes than in the commercial world. The only reason it gets noticed more commercially is that a lot more people end up getting sick, and the source is a lot easier to trace. But many people who attend private dinner parties and other hosted functions also get food poisoning, most just attribute it to the flu.

That means every person who is thinking about hosting a private dinner party of any size needs to have a few basic safety features in place in order to ensure their guests don't get sick. Before you have a lot of company over to your home or Factory lofts, make sure that you understand the basic rules of food safety and safe food preparation that we will list below.

The most important rule in food preparation safety is making sure that you wash your hands. In fact, when you make a meal you can really never wash your hands often enough. When you first get to the kitchen in your Yorkville real estate, wash your hands. Do so with water so hot you can barely handle it, and remember to use soap as well. Your hands should be under the water for at least thirty seconds. After that initial wash, you'll need to bathe your hands every time you leave the kitchen, every time you touch raw meat, even when you switch knives. The majority of food bacteria finds its way into food via the human hand.

Next, make sure you pay attention to all the ingredients you are using in the dishes as you prepare them. Allergies are worse today than they have ever been, and for many people they are a deadly serious thing. You need to make sure that no trace of seafood, peanuts, or any other of the big allergens ends up in any food that a person with allergies might be consuming. That means paying attention to the ingredient list on the products you are using as well as washing your hands and making sure that the different dishes don't touch. It's hard to get used to cooking this way in your own North York condo, but it will ensure the health of your guests.

Never leave raw meats out for any length of time before they get cooked, including chicken and beef. Also, keep the raw meat from touching any other food in your Toronto lofts or other sorts of home. This will help to avoid the risk of cross contamination.
