When you throw a catered party or event, you want to make sure all of your guests enjoy themselves. Unfortunately, sometimes that means filling your Bloor West Village real estate with different food options to accommodate the many different dietary restrictions among your circle of friends. When you're planning your menu, remember that it's not just medical conditions and animal rights that may restrict a person's diet, but their religious beliefs as well. Here are some common religious food restrictions to watch out for.
No Meat Fridays
It's not seen as often anymore, but traditionally the stricter sects of Christianity (including Catholics) weren't permitted to eat meat on Fridays. This means if you're having some Catholic friends over to your Forest Hill homes for a Friday supper, pasta or fish (which is permitted) are the best choices. Meat is permitted on any other day of the week.

No Alcohol
There are many religious groups which either frown on or forbid the drinking of alcohol, including Mormons and Muslims. If you're inviting a teetotaler over for dinner, it's not necessary to rid your whole Scarborough condo of alcohol, just to keep it out of the dishes you serve them - so no wine sauce with the pasta or rum balls for dessert. Even vanilla extract should be avoided, since it contains a lot of alcohol. Check the label.
Keep Kosher
Practicing Jewish people have some of the most complex eating restrictions, especially when it comes to meat. Meat and dairy products have to be kept strictly separate, and pork, shellfish, split-hooved animals, and non-kosher wine are forbidden. The easiest way to accommodate someone like this is to pick up a certified kosher meal pre-prepared when you go out to see about the table rental in Toronto.
No Beef
If you've got a Hindu friend coming over for dinner, you should refrain from serving beef, not just to her but to everyone at the table, because Hindus hold cows sacred. The stricter the Hindu, the less meat she eats. The strictest are completely vegetarian.
No Food During the Day
During the ninth month of the Muslim calendar, which usually falls sometime during the summer, even if a Muslim is visiting the best spa in Mississauga, he cannot eat anything between dawn and dusk. This is known as Ramadan. To accommodate a Muslim during Ramadan, hold your meal after the sun goes down.
